What an electronic press kit is
An electronic press kit, or EPK, is the digital pack a production gives journalists, picture desks and media outlets so they can write about and illustrate a film or TV title. It collects the approved promotional assets in one place: unit stills, captions and credits, key production information and often behind-the-scenes or interview material.
For the stills element, an EPK draws on the approved key selects — only signed-off publicity stills, captioned and embedded with the right image metadata so each frame stays correctly credited once it leaves the production. Getting that set clean, consistent and properly captioned is what makes an EPK genuinely usable by a busy press office rather than a folder of unlabelled files.
